What Would Happen if You Stopped Obsessing About Food, or Worrying About Your Weight?

That would never happen, I’m too afraid of being larger than I currently am.
I have no idea. I’ve dieted my entire life. I don’t know how to not diet. My body doesn’t know how to not diet.
I would be free from having to count calories/macros/points, stressing over the number on the scale, or feeling guilty about eating “bad” food. I would trust my body to tell me exactly what it needs. I would have more brainspace and confidence to cultivate other areas in my life… I just don’t know how to get there.
All of the above, depending on the day.

Regardless of your answer, you’ve come to the right place.

Just the fact that you’ve entertained this question is a sign that you know the struggle. The struggle of being stuck in the diet-binge cycle. The struggle of your mood changing as quickly as the ups and downs on your scale. The struggle of feeling you’re “not enough” until you “have more willpower”, look a certain way, or reach a certain weight.

You don’t deserve this. It’s not your fault.
Let’s find a way out together.

As a weight-inclusive, non-diet dietitian and Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, I specialize in helping people like you…

  • Break free from food and body obsession
  • Tune out the insidious, toxic diet messaging rampant in our culture, and tune in to your inner wisdom
  • Rediscover the joy and pleasure of food and eating
  • Make peace with your body and feel at home in your own skin

Frequently Asked Questions {F.A.Q.}

Can you help me lose weight?

As a weight-inclusive, non-diet dietitian, I do not support intentional weight loss. While intentional weight loss (aka diets) “work” in the short-term, the vast majority of people regain their weight within 2-5 years. Many people end up even heavier than when they started. (Not to say that weight gain is a bad thing per se, but noting that is the opposite of the intended effect.)

Moreover, intentional weight loss is associated with harmful outcomes like disordered eating and weight cycling, and upholds the systems that value smaller bodies over larger bodies.

How do I know if coaching is right for me?

You may benefit from working with me if:

  • You are tired of feeling obsessed with food, hating your body, and ready to break free from the diet-binge cycle.
  • You are interested in intuitive eating, mindful eating, body positivity and/or Health At Every Size®, but struggle to apply it to your own life.
  • You are looking for help managing a chronic condition using a weight-inclusive approach.

We may not be a good fit if:

  • You’re just looking for a meal plan. (Here’s why.)
  • You measure success by a number on the scale. (Here’s why.)
  • You’re happy with your current eating habits and lifestyle, and not looking to make significant changes.

Can I purchase single sessions?

Mending a messy relationship with food and/or your body can take months, or even years. A single session is unlikely to make a significant impact on your journey. During our free Appetizer Call, I will do my best to understand your needs and map out what your journey could potentially look like, so that you can feel confident that our work together will be time and money well-spent.

Some people who have been on this path for a long time may feel that they only need to check in once a month or less. If that is the case, purchasing single sessions may be appropriate, and can be discussed.

Where are you located?

I share an office with Wholistic Health YYC in The Village, located just steps away from Brentwood C-Train station in Northwest Calgary. I can also meet you virtually via online teleconferencing (I use a HIPAA-friendly program, but will also use Skype or Facetime with your permission) or phone, but please note that I am registered to practice in the province of Alberta, Canada.

Are you covered by health insurance?

Many employee healthcare plans cover services provided by a registered dietitian (that’s me!) If you are receiving my services online, please note that I am registered with the province of Alberta, Canada, and some plans do not cover out-of-province practitioners. Check with your plan provider.

Do you have a refund policy?

If you have purchased a package and at any point decide that we’re not a good fit, you will receive a full refund, minus $175 for every session that you have completed.

Success Stories

“My biggest change is that I don’t feel as guilty anymore.”

I had developed a mentality through fitness competitions that certain foods = weight gain, and that made me very nervous to eat them or that I could only eat them on a certain day (aka the cheat day!) [When I first met with Vincci, I was in a cycle of] bingeing […] then restricting […] and then the feelings of guilt. [Vincci was] very supportive and non-judgemental. [She] genuinely cares and treats her clients with respect. I think my biggest change is that I don’t feel as guilty anymore when I eat certain foods. I find now, I allow myself to have chocolate or a treat where appropriate, rather than based on it being Saturday and I don’t have the same feelings of guilt.

— A.Q.

“I’m confident that I’ve truly embarked on a lifestyle change.”

I’d met with several health and nutrition coaches. I explained my history with dieting and bingeing, and made it clear that I wanted to get away from that style of eating. In all cases, I was sent home with a meal plan that reflected the latest fad diet, which often required cutting out entire food groups or buying expensive powders or supplements. I was incredibly discouraged- I wanted to get away from obsessing about food, not spend more time thinking about what I could or could not eat.

When we met, Vincci listened to my concerns, offered science-supported solutions, and suggested ways to break down the larger changes into small, easy to implement steps. There were no calorie restrictions, forbidden food groups, or supplements- just eating wholesome food, most of the time. Our follow-up conversations kept me on track, and Vincci was non-judgemental and a great problem solver when I ran into trouble.

Meeting with Vincci helped me improve my diet, normalize my eating habits, and knowing that I can reach out to her for support whenever I need to makes me less concerned about ‘falling off the wagon’. With Vincci’s help, I’m confident that I have truly embarked on a lifestyle change.”

— Kathryn W.

“I was able to correct some very negative thinking in a short amount of time, leading to long-lasting lifestyle changes.”

I came to Vincci struggling with my body image and my relationship with food; a consistent pattern of over eating made my life unmanageable. Vincci was able to successfully provide me with education, tools and accountability that, in a very short amount of time, with hard work has led to long-lasting lifestyle changes. I was able to correct some very negative self thinking. Thanks for the help!

— Michael
